What I hope I will learn about digital media in this course?

After completing the course, I hope it can grant me some basic knowledge of the development and the uses of digital media. Also, I want to enhance my appreciative and expressive skills by learning different ways of aesthetic and experiential appreciation of digital art and media.

Facebook and YouTube as kinds of digital media are playing an important role in my life. For me, Chatting or searching in Facebook and watching movies or clips via YouTube have become a must every day. Though I am not addicted to share my daily to public, I enjoy knowing more about others’ lives.

If you want to talk about the pros and cons of these digital media, firstly, I can get important information from different support groups or social media so that I can know more about the current society or international issues. Also, using Facebook and YouTube can create new social connections. For example, I can make friends with different nationalities without territory boundaries. However, there are too many fake of misinformation over these media. This misinformation has been shared without the proper vetting of the sources providing the information. One last discussion about the pros and cons of social media is a lack of one on one communication. Nowadays, people choose texting or being on social media sites instead of communicating with each other during family or peer gatherings. This decreases face-to-face interaction.
